Women's Recreational League
Format: Women’s Draw
Day: Wednesday
Time: 7:05 pm
League Coordinator: Stephanie Millar
We are a group of women from all walks of life who enjoy curling recreationally each Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from late September until mid-April. Our season is split into two halves: September through December, and January through April. Players sign up to the league individually and are placed on a different team for each half based on their experience in curling. We welcome all levels of abilities, whether you are new to curling or have curled for many years.
With a maximum of 40 players, there is plenty of time to curl. Each draw is comprised of 10 weeks, and each person will play roughly 8 games and 2 byes per half. As we curl in the winter, we reserve a few nights at the end of our second half for makeup games in the event of a “snow night”. In the event that a snow date is not needed, these nights are used for fun games and skill development.
In addition to regular membership dues, our league also collects a nominal social fee which helps to subsidize two social dinners in December and April allowing our members to connect off-ice. Our League is also a proud supporter of local charities, using our December dinner to raise money for great causes supporting women and families.
Our League enjoys membership in the Ladies Curling Association, and participates in a number of bonspiels in the greater Ottawa area, at all levels, throughout the season.
We are currently accepting new members for our league as well as spares. Members of Carleton Heights Curling Club in good standing can spare an unlimited number of times.
