Matt Crossman - CHCC Club Manager

Matt is thrilled to be the new club manager at Carleton Heights. He brings over a decade of experience managing a local pub after discovering a love of cooking at an early age, influenced by his dad, which he parlayed into a career in the hospitality industry. He takes pride in providing quality service to his customers.

Matt was born and raised in Ottawa. As a kid, he spent his winters playing hockey and hanging around the Navy Curling Club where his family curled. He has the dubious honour of being trounced by a young John Morris at a family Christmas curling event. He is looking forward to getting back into curling, starting with CHCC’s new Learn to Curl
program which he is joining with his girlfriend.

Matt recently bought a home, loves his one-year-old lab, Barkley, and is an avid hockey and baseball fan. He enjoys spending his summer weekends at the lake, and a quiet night out with friends.

He is excited about this new chapter at Carleton Heights and helping to grow the local curling community.

Marie-Elaine Little - Head Ice Technician

Introducing our new Head Ice Technician, Marie-Elaine Little, better known as MEL.

MEL is a recent BCom graduate as well as an acting diploma graduate, with the addition of being a Level 2 Ice Technician.  She has a very long resume in competitive sports, including curling! She was taught how to do ice by the legendary Bill Duck and also got the opportunity to learn from his son, Kyle Duck while she was in Toronto this past year.

If she isn’t in a curling club, she is most likely at the gym but MEL is a big social butterfly, do not hesitate to strike up a conversation with her.

Let’s give MEL a warm welcome to the club. She is excited to work hard and continue to encourage female ice technicians!
